Session 18: Portfolio Review & Final Assessment¶
Week: 18 Element: ICTPRG430 (Full) + ICTPRG439 (Full) Duration: 4 hours Phase: Phase 6 - Assessment & Completion
Session Introduction¶
Session 18 marks the culmination of the 18-week robotics programming course. Over the past four months, you've progressed from programming fundamentals (unit testing, algorithms) through object-oriented design, ROS2 integration, and finally the GO2 capstone project.
This final week is dedicated to: - Portfolio review and finalization - Ensure all evidence is complete and professional - Competency validation - Confirm you've demonstrated all required elements - Final assessment - Complete outstanding work and formal competency review - Reflection - Document your learning journey and growth
By the end of this session, you will have successfully completed all course requirements and demonstrated competency across both ICTPRG430 (object-oriented programming) and ICTPRG439 (component reuse in robotics).
Learning Objectives¶
By the end of this session, you will have:
- Reviewed your complete portfolio evidence across all 18 weeks
- Verified all competency requirements are demonstrated and documented
- Clarified any outstanding assessment items with your instructor
- Reflected on your learning and growth as a programmer and engineer
- Prepared for final competency validation assessment
What to Focus On¶
Portfolio Completeness Checklist¶
Portfolio 1 (Weeks 1-7) - Core Programming Competency:
- AT1-Session-1: Binary Search exercise with comprehensive tests
- AT1-Session-2: Algorithms (dynamic programming) implementation
- AT1-Session-3: Dictionary methods with multi-function system
- AT2-Session-4-5: RobotBase OOP implementation with mock testing
- AT2-Session-6-7: Inheritance hierarchy with professional documentation
Portfolio 2 (Weeks 8-17) - Applied Integration Competency:
- Sessions 8-12 evidence: Design patterns, packaging, ROS2 fundamentals
- Sessions 13-17 evidence: GO2 simulation, wrapper class, wave behavior, integration
- Architecture diagrams and system documentation
- Demonstration video or evidence of working implementation
Final Submission Requirements¶
For Portfolio 1 Completion: - All assessment files submitted and approved - Design documentation complete - Testing evidence verified - Professional README and architecture explanation
For Portfolio 2 (Capstone) Completion:
- GO2Controller wrapper class fully implemented and tested
- Wave behavior working in Gazebo simulation
- Integration testing complete with documentation
- Final demo video submitted
- GitHub repository with commit history
Competency Validation¶
Your instructor will review: 1. Evidence of all ICTPRG430 elements (Design, Implement, Test, Handover) 2. Evidence of all ICTPRG439 elements (Identify, Evaluate, Incorporate components) 3. Professional communication in documentation and code 4. Technical accuracy of implementations 5. Depth of learning demonstrated through reflection
Next Steps¶
- Schedule a review meeting with your instructor if you have incomplete items
- Finalize all documentation with proper formatting and professionalism
- Complete the student reflection survey (provided by your instructor)
- Prepare for competency validation session
